I've Wandered Much of Late...

The last of the year three pilot exhibitions signalled the end of stress inducing, show-organising fun for 2008. It was rather exciting for all those who managed to go along for the opening, even though there was only one painter in this particular pilot...plus the eager anticipation for the famed 'hand made crossiants' was finally appeased!! Well done to all those involved!

Phillip's paintings!

Chloe's cardboard construction; Activating the Global Posse: Remembering Toujba, 2008

never have i ever seen what i could only describe as a 'hobo's heaven'...piles and piles of cardboard made into a neat nesting area along with a sound piece. Was rather restful inside, (which was juxataposed by the sound) perhaps i could get used to cardboard furnishings...

Inside the cardboard lair...

This is Simon. He's a year 2 painter and has promised me a proper review of the show and particularly the painting...perhaps that may be posted up in the future (if it ever eventuates that is...)

More BVA Painters, Amber (left), Elliot (centre) and Tias who is actually a printmaker (right,)

Alan and Claudia. Also painters. Claudia, my dear friend (our dear friend) is going away for a semester to Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh!! As much as we've all assured her that Pittsburgh isn't literally the pitts we still wish her all the luck in the world and will miss her dearly, the studio dynamic is already not the same! However, she also has promised regular updates which we will be posting on here and we have decided to keep in contact via postcards (and the dreaded skype which i still have difficulty with) which perhaps i may share on here too if i feel so inclined to do so...

Phillip, Lisa and Jessie (all BVA Painters as well) in front of Olga's photographs

And finally Alan expressing his joy over the excellent exhibition.

The next couple of weeks we have year two pilots at cross street gallery, The Dadley Building and St Paul Street 3 so we will be covering those too. Everyone is already in a dither about the shows that were sprung on us only two weeks ago really...and have hopefully been pumping out the work and desperately trying to get together enough to tend to the finer details such as poster design etc. The first one's on at Cross Street on the 20th August opening 5.30-7. It will be featuring a few of the painters such as Alan (above) so be sure to go along :)
