Word Play

Found this in today's Herald in the Viva Section...

Now for those of you who don't really know much about us AUT-ers, we like to make up words to use during crits in order to a) have specific words that we know means something specific therefore making it easier when we want to describe/talk about someone's work, b) because we like to confuse tutors with our secret squirrel language as a way of taking back the power! muahahahaha

Anyway, so far we have a small list, or dictionary if you will, of words that we have made up/like to use regularly:

1. Smauve
2. Puce

Such are two examples. Now...taking a closer look at this article here....

Whaaaa? You mean it was actually a word?....Or maybe those sneaky fashion devils at Viva caught wind of our new pants word and decided to jump on the bandwagon.

but no....turns out it is a word!

dictionary results for: puce

–adjective 1. of a dark or brownish purple.
–noun 2. a dark or brownish purple.

hmmmm..... Brownish purple, we did not know....

So for the sake of saving our made up word (which used in the AUT context, doesn't mean dark or brownish purple anyway) we will instead, spell it:

Puse

Revised Dictionary:

1. Smauve
2. Puse

Long live adjectives!

I could have told you that PUCE is a word/colour. 'the more you learn, the more you know'. What does it mean in art speck? Also Elliot this is for you, mauve is the correct spelling for the word sound we are looking for, so it makes sense that we add an 'S'for smauve. How would you spell it?

hmmm thomas finn, weren't you there for the conception of puse? I'm pretty sure you were a fully fledged painter at that point...why did you not tell us then!! and yes it is smauve. No arguments. That is the correct spelling says me.
